R v W and Others

17 Jan 2014

Solicitor Aisha Qazi Shamsuddin successfully represented Mr W. This case concerns the murder of Danny Gough of Croydon in December 2010. Mr Gough was hacked to death at home by 3 masked men in front of his pregnant wife. It is alleged that this was a revenge attack as part of a vicious feud and that Mr Gough’s movements were tracked on Facebook. The case has attracted national coverage in the press. The trial began at the Central Criminal Court in November 2013. On 17th January 2014, the jury was discharged having failed to reach a verdict after 5 days of deliberation. The case was retried with a different jury and after a 51-day trial our client was acquitted.

We instructed Philip King QC and Natasha Wong of 187 Fleet Street Chambers.
